Modern Remodels That Will Leave You Speechless

No matter how much we love our home, there comes a time when we need to try something new. Remodels are a great way to enhance a house’s look, without the hassle of moving into a new property. These days, a successful remodel consists of giving areas an update while still preserving the essence of what makes the location so special. If done correctly, homeowners will be delighted by the contemporary facelift, and pleasantly surprised by the familiarity that still exists within the space.

Here are a few projects we’ve worked on, and the unique elements that make them so special.

The Modern Patio

There’s a lot to be said about a patio used to its full potential. They are the perfect places to unwind after a long day of work, and make for a great entertaining space, as well. Yet, with the good, can also come the bad. We’ve all been there: It’s a new home with nothing but a concrete slab in the backyard. You can’t just leave the slab empty, but having the right mix of furniture, décor, and landscaping can quickly become overwhelming. That’s where we come in. This modern patio is a great example of how a conversation piece (i.e., the fire pit) can really pull the space together.

We chose to add seating that created a nook for visitors, and further defined the space by creating subsections within the patio itself. The furniture is meant to be sleek and modern, without taking away from the beautiful greenery around the home. The folding glass wall blurs the lines between inside and out, and can immediately change the tone of the house when utilized.

The Trendy Rustic Revival

This kitchen is at the intersection of function and style. The wooden butcher’s block island adds much needed room to the space, and provides a link to the past. The kitchen is full of contemporary elements, with a rustic flare. The deep tones used on the floor create an inviting atmosphere, and a warm, welcome contrast to the sleek, cool-toned stove area and modern cabinets. We tried to balance a sense of going back to nature while providing top-notch appliances and fixtures. The floor to ceiling accent wall adds to the down-home spirit of the property, and becomes the perfect way to showcase the gorgeous window in its center. The floating shelves round out the kitchen by creating additional room, while maintaining a low profile. This is another example of how a remodel doesn’t necessarily have to mean losing a room’s character.

The Grand Living Room

Another great blend of classic stylings with modern design is this unique living room. As you walk in, your eyes are immediately drawn to the beautiful fireplace, which does a great job creating a point of interest, while also acting as a divider for the floor. While the mantle is quite grand, the diagonal black tiling helps tone down the piece, and adds a very modern, sophisticated feel.  A gray sectional with orange pockets of color plays off of the wood accents throughout the room. Perhaps the most intriguing part of this modern makeover is the fact that there’s a chandelier hanging above the space. While this type of lighting is generally characteristic of a more classical home, we found the juxtaposition with the modern space to be the perfect balance between new beginnings and paying homage to the history of this home.

Wherever your next remodeling project takes you, make sure to preserve the heart and soul of your property. Your guests will notice the unique flavor of your home, and you’ll still be able to appreciate the things that made you love the space to begin with. With a little bit of research and planning, we’re confident you’ll be able to turn your house into your dream home in no time…and if you’d like a little bit of help along the way, our team is always here.
