During the winter, it’s easy for pipes to freeze. As the pressure builds up, pipes can easily burst. According to State Farm, the average claim for flooding from burst pipes is $15,000. So what do you do when your pipes freeze? First, find out if it’s all the fixtures in the house or just one or two. If only a few, the problem is most likely the main line. In that case, try heating the line with hair dryers or electric blankets. Do not use a torch. If it’s only one or two areas, try feeling along the pipes and heating the coldest spots. If you can’t get to the pipes, call a plumber.
