Real estate now includes and considers the needs of the family pet in its offerings. Pet washing stations, special niches for pet bowls and equipment, and pet spa additions are becoming popular. At community grand openings, builders are even offering pet adoption while inviting homebuyers to see the possibilities of the spaces. Mollie Carmichael, principal at the John Burns Real Estate Consulting firm, noted that 70 percent of homebuyers have pets. It seems wise to build homes that include them, and their owners, in innovative and creative ways.
