Remodeling Magazine completed a study of 35 home remodeling projects, to see which yielded the best return for homeowners. Here is what researchers discovered:
· Home offices are not a good remodeling option. They don’t engage buyers like kitchens and home theaters.
· Upscale upgrades to the master suite and garage return 56 to 58 percent of a homeowner’s money, if they align with the other homes in their neighborhoods. Otherwise, more modest upgrades may show higher returns.
· Be careful with a bathroom addition. Generally a good investment, homeowner may find it even more beneficial to simply rework the existing square footage.
