The year 2014 is the “year of the remodel.” So with a few home projects in mind, now’s the time to lock in a good contractor. According to the “Leading Indicator of Remodeling Activity” Harvard housing report, remodeling gains will double as homeowner confidence continues to drive growing home prices, new builds, and sales. Homeowners will no longer hold back, and the start of 2014 will be the time to act before mid-year slowing occurs, due to a slow rise in interest rates. Be sure to check Remodeling Magazine’s “Cost vs. Value” report for projects with highest return, and consider the benefits of remodeling within your existing footprint, rather than adding a costly addition.
