What kinds of jobs currently comprise the homebuilding industry? The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) submitted data based on the 2012 Occupational Employment Statistics (OES) Survey to present a clear view of the Residential Building Construction industry group. Several key findings include the following:
· 9% or 48,000 positions are management jobs.
· 14% or 80,000 jobs represented administrative support.
· 4% or 24,000 jobs make up sales and business/finance roles
· Other home building jobs comprise a 6% blend of architects, lawyers, designers, building/grounds maintenance staff, security guards, drivers, and IT staff.
· Predictably, most jobs fell into home construction/extraction categories. 47% or 171,00 workers are carpenters and construction laborers, site supervisors, etc. fill the remaining construction positions.
