Green homebuilding is no longer a trend. Building with efficiency and environmental responsibility in mind has become cost-effective and a buyer priority. Buyers want to be sensitive to the environment and do what they can to use resources wisely. Also, from a practical standpoint, the energy saving impact on monthly bills is significant. According the National Association of Realtors, 39 percent of homebuyers surveyed noted that heating and cooling costs were very important, as were energy-efficient appliances and lighting. Energy-efficient improvements are immediately useful and go a long way in making homes more comfortable and affordable for families, durable and less maintenance, and valuable as an investment.
