The FluxHome marks another entry into the Solar Decathlon competition, this entry by a group of students from the University of Southern California. The FluxHome is a 1,000 square foot house that takes advantage of the California climate to run on solar energy. Additionally, all of the home systems are controlled by a single iPad with a user-friendly interface that can detail the cost of all the house systems for the homeowner. It takes advantage of the Cerstron smart home automation system to control the lights, humidity, temperature, security, and energy usage of the home, as well as occupation sensors to turn off non-essential systems when a room is empty.
