Spaces in New Homes

One of the most frequently asked questions for the National Association of Home Builders is the question of how space is distributed in a new home. To answer the question, the NAHB surveyed its members that build single-family homes, and found an average percent distribution of the new homes being built by their members. They then further broke down the information to separate the average big home from the average small home. One of their findings was that, regardless of house size, bedroom space covers just under 29% of the home. Bathroom space gets an average of 12.3%, with more or less being typical depending on the house size.
