On a monthly basis, consumer confidence in the housing industry seems to show mixed results. On a larger scale, it can be seen that confidence is increasing over time. Thomson Reuters and the University of Michigan’s Consumer Sentiment Index rose to a seasonally adjusted level of 84.1 in July, one point higher than in June. The preliminary reading was only 83.9, showing an increase in the end of the month. The Conference Board, however, reported a 2.2 percent decline in its Consumer Confidence Index, falling 1.8 points to a seasonally adjusted 80.3. Both of these measures were opposite the previous month.
