A person living in a small space will often wish they had a larger one, but large spaces come with the unique problem of solving what to do with all of that extra, often vertical, space. One technique is to strategically place tall potted plants around the room to fill some of the vertical space, providing that the room gets enough sunlight to provide for the plants. Plants will draw the eye upwards, highlighting just how high the ceilings are, but sometimes we want the opposite to feel comfortable. Two tone walls, or walls painted only partially up, can make a room cozier by tricking our eyes into thinking the ceilings are lower.
