General Electric has launched GeoSpring, the first hybrid electric water heater manufactured in the U.S., which will save the average consumer $325 annually, the company reports. The product is part of GE’s new emphasis on energy efficiency. This hybrid technology absorbs heat in ambient air and transfers it into the water, requiring much less energy than that used to generate radiant heat in a conventional electric tank water heater, making it more economical to operate.
