Ontario Recognized for Green Initiatives

Oakville, Ontario’s achievements in sustainability initiatives are once again being recognized, including a designation being bestowed on Town Hall for leadership in waste reduction and diversion. The 3RCertified status, and a new LEED Silver certification from the Canada Green Building Council for the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (QEPCCC), were both recognized by council at its recent meeting. Oakville also received a LEED Silver certification for the new Transit building earlier this year, and a LEED Gold certification for the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex in 2012. LEED is a rating system recognized worldwide as the benchmark for sustainability and green building design.
