Sustainability and efficiency continue to gain in prominence within Australia’s property and construction sectors, with the number of Green Star projects certified by the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) rising significantly in just the past year. According to the latest figures from the GBCA, a total of 150 Green Star projects were certified in 2014, an increase of more than 40 per cent compared to the 105 projects that were certified in the preceding year. GBCA Chief Executive Officer Romilly Madew said that the rise in certification numbers is significant of a deep-rooted paradigm shift in the Australian property and building industries, as opposed to just a faddish or ephemeral trend.
