Although sustainability, efficiency and livability are modern buzzwords, these are the underlying drivers for keeping our cities and economy healthy. Functioning cities are central to making sure our country continues to prosperity and maintain a high standard of living. Three quarters of us live in cities of more than 100,000 people. Urban policy – something that has slipped down the government agenda in recent years – is essential to ensure we get connected policy that delivers sustainable, livable and productive places. Supporting sustainable growth and learning to create more value with fewer resources is our great challenge. Cities are at the center of much that will make us a smarter, more sustainable planet.
