Green homebuyers are happy homebuyers. According to a recent survey commissioned by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), people who own a National Green Building Standard-certified home purchased within the last three years, are satisfied with their decision. Over 90 percent of homeowners say they would recommend green buying to friends and make a similar purchase in the future. What made survey respondents decide to buy green? Results show 65 percent say energy efficiency was a priority, 59 percent valued improved air quality, and 37 percent were looking to conserve water. When asked about cost, homeowners agreed that the higher price tag was outweighed by benefits like low utility bills, insulation, and performance.
