Although Jeff Kida is of the opinion that the government rarely steps into the private sector to make things better unless they’re fixing their own previous mistake, his recent experiences with his kitchen & bath design firm have left him wondering if increased government regulations might not be just what the industry needs. His issue is that he has toured several homes in the Chicago suburbs with price tags in the mid-six figure range looking to find partnerships with builders. What he is finding more and more often, however, is expensive houses being built with cheap materials that left him feeling bad for the eventual home owners.
