According to a recent magazine report comparing the cost-effectiveness of various home renovations, one of the most effective moderations you can make to your home is actually outside. On average, a homeowner in Jacksonville recouped 75% of the costs associated with installing a wooden deck in increased resale value of the house. This was exceeded only by bedroom remodels (which averages 79.3%), fiber-cement siding replacement (83.1 percent), garage door replacement (83.6%) and steel entry door replacement, with an average recoup cost of 93.7%. Even outside of Jacksonville, US News ranked deck additions as among the top five cost vs. value additions.
