Early spring may not seem like the best time to start performing energy audits, but it can actually be a very good time for both builders and their clients. Spring is a time when few homeowners are thinking about their heating or cooling bills or how to lower them, so those services are less in demand for energy-performance contractors who primarily perform energy audits and weatherization. Another benefit to the spring is that it may still be cool enough outside for a thermographic analysis of the house to find areas of excessive heat loss. This only works well when there is a significant temperature difference between the interior and exterior of the house.
