Contractors have been reporting a recent rise in homeowners requesting significant home improvement projects, such as upgraded kitchens and bathrooms, as well as home additions and major renovations for energy efficiency. This is a positive shift from recent years when most homeowners were only looking for vital repairs, or essentially the bare minimum to protect their investment. This news comes hand-in-hand with the National Association of Home Builder’s forecast to see a 2.4% increase in spending on remodeling this year for single-family homes, though Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies predicts an even more positive 19.6% year-on-year increase on spending through September.
